The sun, the ocean, a few steep hills to run up and enjoy the view…sounds like Pain in Paradise! Join us for a fun, outdoor workout at Kaka’ako Park instead of the facility tomorrow, Saturday, August 30th, for our regular 9:00am and 11:00 class. Also there will be no 3:30 class tomorrow. We meet at the bathrooms on the Ewa end of the park near the ocean. Please see the map here for directions to the park. See you tomorrow!!
With a lease (and a think one at that!) in hand we proudly move on to the next chapter of our community’s history. Tomorrow is the last workout for Crossfit Oahu on Hart st so don’t miss it. We will update the blog tomorrow with the weekend workouts schedule and locations and times you can help us move too. What are some of your fondest memories of Unit #9?? Post them here.

Alright folks, ring the bell, schools in session (sucka). Saturday, September 27th is the nationwide Athletes for a Cure/Fight Gone Bad fundraiser. Last year, CrossFit affiliates across the nation competed in various divisions and categories. Same goes for this year. The goal is to raise over a million dollars for the Prostate Cancer Foundation and the Wounded Warrior Project. An easy task if we all put our collective abilities together. Personally, as I get older, the looming reality of the icy cold, gloved finger inspection becomes more than just a fun joke. If you would like to participate, please register HERE. Once registered, you can have people donate via your own personal site OR the CrossFit Oahu team site. Either way works and all donations will be recorded towards our overall goal.
Info about the competition itself: CLICK HERE
Thanks and let me know if you have any questions.

Don’t be like Marcus, and show up Sunday to help with the build out. Feel free to be there starting at 1200am. Also don’t forget about the “MELTDOWN” tonight at 500pm at rumfire for the Ice Tigers going away party!!

Some of you may have already had the delight of meeting Miss Katie. She came to CFO about 2 1/2 mos ago and has been working deligently with Court. Lately, we’ve had the pleasure of her infectious upbeat attitude at the 9:00 am classes. One of Katie’s goals was to do a strict push up unassisted. She has worked hard to get off the bands and Friday was her “no bands” day. Katie did 23 non-consecutive strict unassisted push ups! Wahooooo! Those of us there cheered for her as she did her happy dance. We are all very proud of Kaie, but no one was more excited than she was. Congrats Katie to an awesome job — our only question now is . . . What’s Next?

Don’t be like James, and show up tomorrow to help with the build out. Feel free to be there at 900am or after the 900am or 1100am WOD. Also don’t forget about the “MELTDOWN” tomorrow at 500pm at rumfire for the Ice Tigers going away party!!

We are working very hard on preparing to move into our new box and we thank all of you very much for your patience during this exciting transition. Although many of you who have stopped by the new place to help out may feel like this….
…we really appreciate all of your hard work!
As far as classes go this weekend and next week, until further notice, all classes will be as normally scheduled at our current facility on Hart St (no Pain in Paradise this saturday). Please check the blog daily for further notice. Thank you again for your patience!

To Bryant and the whole gang,
Wow, I heart CFO. Thanks to Kate and everyone at CFO who contributed to my Care Package and sent their love and wishes. I actually just got it today and it made me cry. My bro will will enjoy the SnakPak and Star magazine, no matter the sugar content. I have been through an extremely crazy summer ride. I miss the black mats and am sad to say I haven’t hit a WOD since my B-Day in June (which was a good one, anyway).
As Kate has mentioned, my brother has been in very critical condition. He has been moved to a rehab facility, Helen Hayes Hospital, just outside of NYC, which is where I have been for the last 10 days and where I will be for the next 10 days before I return to Hawaii. My brother is currently considered a complete quadriplegic on full life support, with the prospect of moving some upper body and breathing and eating again, one day. Most days I feel guilty going for a run or doing situps or squats knowing that my brother has been rendered unable to move or breathe on his own. But I feel so fortunate to have anything these days, and it will be such an inspiration to work towards being strong and fit again in the future. I hope to return to CFO when life works itself out again, and feel so fortunate to have the community on my side. At the very least, I will come by the gym when I am back on the rock and I’m sure I’ll get roped into doing something.
Much Mahalos for the thoughts and prayers, they really have been immense in serving their purpose.
Aloha, Ashleigh
p.s. I attached some photos of other ways I’ve found to stay in shape, including Dance, Dance Revolution and various water sports.
In case you missed Ashleigh too much don’t worry she will be back this Wednesday!!!

Well I barely got this post in before midnight! I would like to thank Bryan, Donald, Juggins, and Marcus for helping me and Craig power wash the whole new gym. If you would like to get in on the action we will be over there starting at four tomorrow and we are going to primer the facility.
As you can see we will have no problem with rope climbs in our new home from the picture above. Thanks for the great thoughts on what makes someone suck yesterday. I found your ideas very thoughtful. Now we need some help with what colors/theme you think the new bathrooms/showers should be. Be creative like this (Link not 100% Work Family safe). Post your thoughts here and if you can link to some pictures to show us what you are talking about and yes we have had someone ask for us to put in a bidet.
