Yes that is right, Crossfit Oahu is getting our own wine and we need your help. After extensive testing we will be bottling 30 bottles a New Zealand Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc (White) and 30 bottles of a Corvina Classico DiVeneto from Verona, Italy (Red). They will take about 8 weeks to finish bottling at Wine the Experience and we will have a wine party at the bottling. If you interested in a bottle let us know.
We need your help designing a name for the wines (Rhabdo Red??) and a story for the back label. Be creative and if we pick your name and story (and you are of age) we will give you a bottle!! Post your ideas here and don’t be shy!!

Bryant and I were trying to find a fun nutrition picture and this is what he picked out…
So, it’s been about 2 weeks since many of you have began the Zone adventure. I’ve talked story with several of you on the forum, e-mail and in the gym and it sounds like you have noticed many positive and suprising effects of improving your eating. I know that it can be overwhelming at times and a few ‘cheats’ have kept some of you sane. That’s why we are having a check-up this Saturday, April 19th, at 11:30 am to keep you motivated!
Keith, the Steel Chef, will be presenting some cooking basics and I will facilitate a meal planning practice session to help you get more creative with your food. Whether you came to the last session or not, please come and share your experiences.
We would like to offer regular nutrition/cooking classes at CFO and we would love to hear your ideas. Please post your Zone/nutrition experiences and class ideas here and we hope to see you next Saturday!

The benefits of college life and Crossfit are finally clear. Shark nailed a PR 373lb Deadlift and a PR 1:23.9 500m row in the same night.

Sharks partner in crime Erik nailed a PR snatch at 155lbs (His bodyweight!!). They have been training hard at least a few hours a day, five days a week here at CFO and staying up late due to college duties on the weekends. Leave them some support here if you have seen how hard they train each day!
Check out what Kate and her new CF BFF Thi used their CF skills for. This is the message Kate sent me on the forum.
“Aloha Bryant,
This weekend I hiked Koko Head for the first time. I had been cautioned by many people about all of the steep stairs and how sore I was going to be after. In fact, in planning this little adventure I found a new way to get unwanted suiters to leave me alone - simply ask: Hey, wanna hike Koko Head with me? They flee as if I had the plague!
Fortunately I was able to entrap my new friend Thi to come with me. I guess you could say we hiked it as ‘prescribed’. There was no crawling over the tracks, no long breaks to catch our breath, just a continuous trek up the side of Koko Head. While enjoying the amazing view Thi and I mused how it was sort of like a Crossfit workout. Yea, it hurts but you might as well keep going until you finish and reap the rewards. We pretty much rocked that hike! The best part was that I wasn’t even sore the next day. It brought into focus how all of my crossfit training is helping me to excel at everyday things I love to do.
Actually, that was the second best thing. The best was hiking with a super cool new friend I met at Crossfit.
Thanks for everything.”
No, that’s not a typo — one of our own CFO members, Patricia Carroll participated in the 14th Annual Umstead 100 Mile Endurance Run at Raleigh, NC on Saturday, April 5th. While the results are still preliminary, we do know that she was the fastest Hawaii finisher with a time of 28:02:54. In case you’re wondering, that’s 28 hours! The Umstead Endurance run is a 12.5 mile loop in the Umstead State Park on a dirt trail with a 8000 foot climb over the 100 miles.
Pat has been an endurance runner for some time and competes several times throughout the year in various races. She came to CFO about three+ months ago and has been doing an awesome job with the workouts. We’d like to think that CrossFit had something to do with her outstanding performance at the Umstead race.
Pat will be back at CFO sometime next week, so make sure if you see her that you give her a “high five” for an excellent race.

Here is Pat during one of many CFO workouts. CONGRATS Pat from CrossFit Oahu, you rock!
Post your comments for Pat here.

One of our local law enforcement officers that trains here at CFO was involved in a fight with a suspect. He wrote this to me-
“Thx Crossfit Oahu!! All the muscles that I felt during training I could feel during a use of force scenario. I had power to spare to bring the conflict to a quick a decisive end. You should have seen the expression on the suspects’ faces!” *wry grin*
Has your training ever helped you out with your job, sport or life. Post you thoughts to the comments here.

If you have one, then you know. If you don’t know, talk to us next time you are here and you will get one.
