05/30/2008  A message of Hope…

After a moment of reflection post workout (seen above) Laura wrote me out a little bit of her story to share.

“I’ve been coming to CrossFit Oahu for about 7 months and I can now do things that I never thought I would be able to do (like pullups). In my mind I still don’t have any type of Olympic Weightlifting, but I am working on my max 1 rep deadlift, press, and who knows what else. I really love the support. People here are the best. I feel privileged to be a part of CrossFit Oahu. If there’s anything you think you can’t do, just tell everyone and they’ll help you do it. Next for me is the muscle up!”

What have you have you been working on lately that now seems “normal” but would have seemed out of your reach when you first started? Post your thoughts here and if you have seen how consistent Laura is, let her know too.

  1. Laura,

I miss you! I haven’t worked out with you in a long time. I’m so happy and proud of you for all of your accomplishments at CFO. You’re awesome, you kick ass! You kick ass on your Olympic lifts too. I’ve seen you in action. You’re STRONG! Hope to see you soon.

    Keep up the great work!

  4. Laura,

Excellent work! I’ve seen you improve by leaps and bounds over time.

In response to the “normal” question:
I never imagined I would be able to do a muscle-up or the sheer volume of repetitions that we do for specific exercises (e.g., 110 deadlifts last night at 95#) continues to amaze me…that my body can handle it!

  5. Hey, Laura….way to go yesterday with the deadlifts, KB swings and push-ups… you really gave it your all (as usual, girl!).

Muscle-up, watch out- here comes Laura!!!

As for the “normal” now as opposed to 10 months ago for me: every WOD that we do would be COMPLETELY impossible for me to fathom performing pre-CFO. I see everyone getting stronger each day (special shout out to you, Laura!) and reaching personal goals and beyond. Impressive, one and all!

  7. Laura,
I remember the first time we worked out together on one of my “sick” days, well can’t do anymore of those kind
We had so much fun!!! I admired you, your strength and attitude and how you cheered me on!!! I thought you had been CFing forever!!! You go girl!
Normal for now…..first I have to be healthy and get back to CFing and then I will write more

  8. Laura, when I first came to CFO my goal was just to make it to Rx just like you. You’ve always been so supportive and encouraging and you continually push me to do better and never back down. Thank you!

As for ‘normal’ now, to be able to do the WOD mostly as Rx is a tremendous accomplishment for me.
